Scotland - other activity

NASS attends meetings of the Cross Party Group on Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Conditions which meets regularly in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. NASS is very grateful to our volunteers in Scotland who also attend these meetings to represent NASS.

On 2 October 2013 there was a meeting in the Scottish Parliament, hosted by the Cross Party Group on Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Conditions. Two rheumatologists spoke: - Dr David Marshall, consultant rheumatologist at Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock and Dr Raj Sengupta, consultant rheumatologist at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. Debbie Cook spoke about the role of NASS and Iain Macdonald from NASS from Edinburgh talked about his experience of AS.

Patricia Ferguson MSP attended this meeting and subsequently agreed to ask some Parliamentary Questions for NASS. We are very grateful to Ms Ferguson for asking all 10 questions suggested by NASS. You can read more about this here and you can see all the questions as well as the answers given by Mr Michael Matheson, MSP, the Scottish Minister for Public Health here.
